(Visual) Art Therapy -
In Art Therapy, art materials, the process of creating art, and the art that is created can all support a clients journey. The goal is to use the art to gain insight into the deep and complex experiences we have as humans. Often words can't fully explain how we are feeling and what we are going through, so the art can support the client and therapist in expressing and exploring what is coming up in therapy. No experience is necessary and "good" art is not at all the focus! |
Drama Therapy
This approach to therapy creates a space for people to tell their stories, set goals and solve problems, express feelings, or achieve catharsis. Drama therapy uses role playing, storytelling, metaphor, empathy, distancing, witnessing, performance, and improvisation (just to name a few) to help people make meaningful change. You do not have to be “good” at acting to benefit from it and your therapist is open to talking about what you feel more or less open to using in your therapy journey. |
Dance/Movement Therapy
Dance/Movement therapy is a holistic approach to healing. A key belief, that is supported by research, is how changes in the body reflect changes in the mind and vice versa. To really understand, it is helpful to experience it, as it is an embodied practice. Movement, stillness, embodiment, or related explorations will be brought into therapy to connect to and process what someone brings to therapy in a way that is supported and takes the client's comfort level into account. |
